Location good. Dinner really good. Staff nice.

Poor quality of room. Lack of glass tumbler in room no hair drier no telephone in room etc. not quality for what we paid.

Bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean but despite being described as "refurbished" the room still had a very tired feel about it and the bathroom fittings were desperately in need of replacement. Breakfast quality, choice and staff are simply outstanding - probably one of the best breakfast offerings I have had in over 30 years of extensive travel (small personal note - chives on every kind of egg is not to my taste!). The table d'hote menu was also very, very good and the quality of ingredients, cooking and presentation was first class. The hotel's location is a major draw being in the centre of a very pretty little town and gives you easy access to all of Royal Deeside's stunning scenery and attractions.

Hmmm... not sure where to start without seeming over critical. The hotel is probably best described as a bit of a "curate's egg". In parts (as described above) it really is rather good but lets itself down in too many little areas to be a really special place. During my stay, I received immediate, positive action to a problem on the afternoon I arrived - well done to the Manager but then all of that hard work was undone by a very noisy kitchen fan that was on from 7am - 10pm it seemed. Worse than that, on my second and final morning, there was no hot water and I had to have a less than comfortable cold water shave and no shower. These things happen but it's how staff respond and in this case I was told, "thank you for letting us know". Sorry Deeside Inn - must try harder.

Convenient location for event we attended

Very dark decor and "musty" aroma. Needs brightening up, very dull overall.

The shower did not work properly - poor water pressure

We wanted to attend Braemar Games and managed to get a cancellation at Deeside Hotel. We were only bed an breakfast but enjoyed our stay and would go back again if in the area. breakfast was very nice.

the staff are excellent, food excellent could be magnificent if some money was spent upgrading. i own an interior contracting company and would be happy to discuss any refurbishment program that you may be considering.

decor depressing ,the dark green paint everywhere makes the whole place depressing!!! lighting levels generally very poor ; dark dingy ; paintwork on doors covered in black scuff marks could be removed very easily with "jif" ....poor houskeeping. door plates would alleviate the problem. good light fittings in reception , except only half the light bulbs were working.....poor! heating levels very low....bordering on cold. we stayed in room 8 and the bathroom was dated , tired ,and not commensurate with a superior deluxe which we had booked!!!!

I booked a Superior Double Room which I quote from the website (with a picture) " Very spacious, elegantly furnished room" and requested a quiet room. On arrival we were told we were the last to book in, the hotel was full and we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite. The Suite was anything but spacious and it was cold. The windows were single paned of the old fashioned type that you needed 3 hands to open & close. As for privacy we could hear the suite next to our bedroom talking and we could hear the television of the one in the other direction ! There was a TV in the bedroom & the suite but the one in the bedroom only held a picture for about 5 mins and then had nothing but interference. The other one worked but shared the same remote. The bathroom was like an afterthought stuck in the corner. You had to go in, shut the door, before reversing onto the throne. Be sure to lock the door though because if someone comes into the toilet while you’re sitting there, they will take your feet off ! Some clever housekeeper had folded the start of the toilet roll but considering there was only about 3 wraps left on the roll, why bother ? The bath was suitable for a midget so no chance of a romantic bath for two. Anyway the old style Victorian taps with the cradle for the shower head put any thought of that to rest. It was not so much they were old style, it was that they were old and the shower head, when fixed onto the hanger higher up to have a shower, would not stay there and always swung down to give the wall a good soaking. Judging by the wall it has been doing that for some time. The shower curtain was filthy and smelled but there was plenty of hot water although nowhere, not even a titchy shelf, to put ones smellies, razors or toothpaste. Oh and no soap, two little plastic bottles of some unheard of shampoo that did not have even contents (probably topped up from a bigger one) but no soap.

Service - If we wanted a drink at the bar, we had to go ask the receptionist, who wasnt very pleasant. We were not the only group at the bar who were not impressed by the service. Went to another premises in the village for dinner 2 of our 3 nights in Ballater, much better choice / value for money.

No frills, clean, friendly, relatively comfortable and great location.

The staff always aimed to please and were very easy to deal with. It was very welcoming with a roaring fire and a very comfortable lounge to relax in. We did not eat there at night but the breakfast menu is quite extensive with some excellent options and very friendly, professional service. The surrounding village, Ballater, is very pleasant with nice places to eat and interesting things to see in the surrounding area.

Wi fi access is temperamental within the rooms, though it works great in the lounge downstairs.

Location...Ballater is a nice town. The young man at reception was very helpful and polite

The room was very cold when I arrived. There was no tv in the room when I arrived and I had to go and ask for one. I couldnt log onto the internet at all. Once the tv was plugged in the only other socket for boiling the kettle was half way up the wall next to the cupboard. I had to stand there holding the kettle till it boiled. Breakfast was served by amateurs, took a long time to arrive. Coffee was luke warm. Im normally not fussy but The Deeside Inn dissapointed. I was going to stay two nights but left after one.

The lounge area was very tastefully decorated and the staff were very helpful. I thought it was great value for money and the town itself is very pretty. Bike hire was right across the road.

I thought the dinner menu was a bit pricey compared to other hotels in Scotland. The passage way to the rooms was a bit like a hospital, green and beige, they should make it more like the lounge areas to give it a nicer feel.

The Staff were really good and always happy to help

It really needs updating. The rooms look like my grans room. Corridors smell of dampness The first room I was given had no lock on door! I have to say though they dealt with very quickly to sort
